Serpent Vision Quest
The Teachings of K'uKuulKaan
4 AHAU – 3 KANKIN (December 21, 2012) marks the end of the Mayan Calendar and the return to the origin of time and space, the return to the source of humankind.
The ancient Maya knew this would be a time of great change and their teachings and guidance are important to us now as we visualize the future we want to create.
Following is a quote from Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros’ recent book, “The Sacred Knowledge of the Maya” :
“One of the most important symbols we find in Mayan Culture is undoubtedly that of the SERPENT.
The Serpent represents the Sun, Cosmic Wisdom, and Light; and the Maya depicted it with the figure of a “Feathered Serpent” whose name was “K’uKuulKaan”
We can decipher the symbolism of the Feathered-Serpent in the following way:
- The Serpent without Feathers represents the Sacred Knowledge of the Earth.
- The Serpent with Feathers represents this Sacred Knowledge but also now linked to the Spirit of the Cosmos.
With this connection, the Maya linked the knowledge in such a manner that the symbol takes on the meaning of “Spiritual Wisdom”, combining the Mind and the Heart in wholeness. This is the greatest symbol of K’uKuulKaan, as the “Serpent of Light”.
The Maya called themselves the “People of the Serpent”. However, the actual meaning is “Those who Descend from the Cosmic Wisdom”, as they were those inheritors of Sacred Knowledge which was represented by the Serpent; and, as such, they were “Children of the Cosmic Wisdom”.”
At Casa K’in, THE SERPENT VISION QUEST is a series of workshops based on the teachings of K’uKuulKaan and designed to combine the Mind and the Heart in search for the Wisdom needed for us to create the future new era with love and compassion. Miguel Angel has long been a disciple of K’uKuulKaan and shares the teachings of this Maya Master of Light in a direct and heart-centered way.
